NaNoWriMo at Ascendio!

Hi everyone!  My  name is Krista and I am a NaNoWriMo winner.  (YA fiction novel currently untitled still)  I will be presenting this summer at Ascendio during their quill track.  www.hp2012.org  I will be discussing NaNoWriMo for newbies, talking about what NaNoWriMo is, how to get started, issues one may face as well as overcoming writers block!  This will be a roundtable discussion with a writing activity.

I am beyond excited to get to shame my NaNoWriMo experience and insights with everyone.

Just wanted to put myself out there!

I was a Nano-2011 winner, planning on participating in both Camps coming up as well as next years NaNo… I love interacting with other people (challenging and supporting one another is what makes things like Nano useful! I could write on alone but then why be part of the challenge?) Anyway, my tumbler is aphoenixdisplaced and my nano UN is Meldainiel.

Feel free to add me and contact me however you like! I’m pretty friendly.

A blog on NaNoWriMo events, writing, and other things

username on tumblr: astray-thought

username on nanowrimo: A_Stray (Feel free to add me)

synopsis: A woman becomes the pawn in a game between two ancient beings of questionable moral alignments, one sociopathic and one merely psychopathic, with rules that she doesn’t understand and will need to discover if she is to survive the experience with some shred of her soul and self in tact.

I ‘won’ this past November, my first year attempting NaNoWriMo, and shall be participating in at least this upcoming November, but also very likely the Camp NaNoWriMo events (and trying to pull friends and family into it as well with underhanded puppy eyes entreaties). All of this and more, I plan to keep track of as it was an experience that was exhilarating honestly.

I had intended to write this particular story previously, but as it is a concept with characters very near to my heart and was meant to be sort of horror/suspense, which I had never attempted before, I chickened out for a different experimental version of horror/suspense to test the waters. I found that I got through it pretty acceptably and I’m prepared to trust the process this time I think to actually go for this story.

Working title I believe is The Crow’s Gate.

Young Adult story: “Gifted”

username on tumblr: ziggythevampireslayer

username on nanowrimo: lulatron (ADD ME! I’M LONELY!)

synopsis: A class of “Gifted” teenagers nerd their way though high school with an attitude and social life that shock even the most experienced homeroom teachers.

I’m not completely sure about the idea yet, but I am going to be writing all November in any case.

Brains, bits and Geekiness: Read an article on how terrible NaNoWriMo is...

flyinglogicmonkey:

”The last thing the world needs is more bad books.”

“There are already more than enough novels out there — more than those of us who still read novels could ever get around to poking our noses into, even when it’s our job to do so.”

”I know that there are still undiscovered or…

This is ridiculous!  Wow.  The people of this world sometimes…
